Policies and Procedures
(TSHA follows current industry standards)
-
Nationally certified sign language interpreters will be contacted first. If none are available, we will move to Advanced State, then Intermediate, then Beginner.
A minimum of 1.5 hours will be charged for each interpreting assignment unless a longer block of interpreting time is specifically reserved. (e.g. If an interpreter is requested for an assignment 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the interpreter will bill for nine hours.)
-
Interpreters' actual mileage will be calculated and reimbursed at the rate recommended by the Oklahoma State Travel Reimbursement Act, the current rate being $0.50/mile, along with any other actual expenses (parking, tolls, etc.)
Any assignment 60 or more miles from the interpreter's home will be subject to a Portal-to-Portal charge. The interpreter will be paid their rate per hour for their travel time in addition to their actual mileage pay.
Any assignment canceled with less than one full business day notice will be charged for the entire block of time (1.5-hour minimum charge). After TSHA has received a request for sign language interpreter services, TSHA's cancellation policy is then in effect.
-
Due to the physical, mental, and/or logistical demands of the work, some assignments may require 2 interpreters working together as a team. Billing will be for both interpreters for the entire block of time. The interpreter coordinator will use their best professional judgment and experience in making the final decision.
- Interpreters are given 30 days to submit their invoices to TSHA.
- TSHA processes and mails out invoices once each month, on the last day of the month.
- Invoice payment is expected within 30 days of invoice date.
