JOB OPENING

Job Title:                               Executive Director (Full-time)

Reports To:                           Executive Board of Directors

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Submitting reports for grants:  DeafRISE, CDBG, Tulsa Cares

  2. Works closely with Advancement & Development Manager to raise funds to support organizational operations from a variety of sources, including government, foundations, corporate and individual donors. Support the Board of Directors in its fundraising efforts. 

  3. Oversee financial management of the organization, ensuring compliance with financial policies, manages accounts, and provides regular (no less than quarterly) reporting to the Board of Directors on the financial status of the organization.   (This is done in conjunction with financial manager)

  4. Supervise staff.

  5. Ensure smooth day-to-day management of the organization, including execution of all contracts and agreements and the creation of a contingency/emergency plan. 

  6. Ensures the legal integrity of the organization, monitoring compliance of the organization with all applicable laws and regulations.

  7. Provides administrative directions to department heads for effective operation of programs.

  8. Meets with potential funding sources and oversees fund raising activities and special events.

  9. Meet with Executive Board of Directors for support, questions and concerns.

  10.  Meet or confer with United Way representative for support, questions and concerns. 

Minimum job requirements: 

Bachelors degree in business, marketing, public and non-profit administration, finance, or other applicable degree.  Working knowledge of grant writing, financial leadership and software such as Quickbooks.  Working knowledge or demonstrated willingness to learn and understand Deaf culture and customs, American Sign Language and other aspects of working with deaf/hard of hearing individuals.  Deaf and hard of hearing applicants meeting requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.

JOB OPENING

Job Title:                               Receptionist/Program Assistant (Full-time)

Program Area:                     Community Resources

Reports To:                           Program Director


JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for answering phones, receiving office visitors, providing clerical, office and program support for Community Resources, the organization and the Executive Director.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Answer incoming calls and forward to the appropriate party, and handle routine inquiries.
  2. Greet and route visitors to appropriate staff, and assist visitors.
  3. Type, create and proof correspondence, reports, mail outs, etc.
  4. Log incoming funds.
  5. Maintain database for donors, contacts, etc.
  6. Process outgoing and incoming mail.
  7. Provide program support for Community Resources and other programs as needed.
  8. Assist in training and overseeing volunteers.
  9. Mail merge documents for mail-outs, and handle mailings.
  10. File documentation/information and process consumers’ files.
  11. Assist in arranging coverage for front desk.
  12. Support Executive Director with Board documentation and communication.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Deafness knowledge
High school diploma or GED certificate
Basic ASL skills
Strong communication skills
Organizational abilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Experience with Microsoft Windows programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Fluency with sign language and knowledge of deaf culture.
Administrative experience
Data entry skills

Job Title:                               Deaf Services Specialist (Full-time)

Program Area:                     Deaf Services

Reports To:                           Deaf Services Manager

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Guiding Deaf/Hard of hearing individuals in the Tulsa area in reaching their goals, while educating and advocating for equity and accessibility. Working closely with and providing program support for the Deaf Services Manager and other department professionals.

 

Objective: The Deaf Services Program’s main objective is to provide peer-to-peer support, so preference will be given to deaf/hoh individuals. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide program support for Deaf Services Manager and other department professionals
  2. Recruit and work with deaf and hard of hearing clients in the State of Oklahoma with a focus in Tulsa area
  3. Maintain client logs and documentation
  4. Make phone calls, write letters, send faxes to public places re: accommodations and other advocacy for client needs
  5. Research and provide resources to meet client needs
  6. Work with organizations to better serve their deaf clients
  7. Create and proof correspondence, flyers, and reports
  8. Assist with creating vlogs
  9. Attend trainings and workshops
  10. Working with and implementing Deaf Teens Club events and workshops

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Fluency in sign language and knowledge of deaf culture
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust signed communication effectively to match each client’s language style
  • Computer experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
  • Ability to handle and organize multiple tasks and client load
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong listening skills
  • Strong English skills, both verbal and written
  • High school diploma or equivalent
